Who am i?

My Brazilian name is Sergio Abel Mendes de Melo Alcanfor. Now, a California resident, my legal name is Sergio Mendes Alcanfor. Born and raised in Goiania, the capital of Goias, the epicenter of continental Brazil, and with background as visual artist, architect, and urban planner, I see myself as a citizen of the world; my ultimate mission is to make life more beautiful.

In the early 70’s I executed a group of big wood sculptues and represented the state of Goias at the internationally acclamed Biannual Art Exhibition of San Pablo, Brazil. In the early 90’s I created works of sculptures and paintings titled Fertility, inspired by the Brazilian land. My latest sculptures have been executed in bronze, and a goup of twin pieces, Fertility I and II, celebrating the exhuberance of the natural life in the land of Goias, represented the state once again; at this time, at the Canning House Gallery “2000Expomillennium,” a large art show celebrating the new Millennium in London, UK. As a draftesman I enjoy doing realistic portraits which I have drawn upon streched canvas with nationally and internationally appreciation.
